The metallic pleated skirt trend snuck up on us silently this summer and blew itself out of proportion by the end of autumn. Everyone and I mean literally everyone is wearing it! It’s one of those pieces that are suitable for any kind of season or occasion. In two words – it’s a “must have”.

So what is so great about the pleated skirt and why do you need to own one? Let’s take a look!

GREAT STATEMENT PIECE

The metallic pleated skirt can elevate any look. It’s a great eye catcher that will make heads turn (I’ve experienced it myself…). So if you want to make a lasting impression at an event or even in the day-to-day life, I highly recommend wearing it. However, because it’s so “out there” you have to be quite careful on how you style it – otherwise it can look a bit…hmm too much. You can find some style suggestions at the bottom of this post.

HIDES IMPERFECTIONS

Let’s be honest… we all have them. A bit of cellulite on the thighs, maybe some fat on the belly… But it doesn’t mean we can’t look great, right? The skirt gives you a very feminine shape without revealing too much, which is quite flattering. So if you want to accentuate your waist or conceal any unfavourable parts of your lower body – I’d say it’s pretty ideal for that.

PERFECT FOR ANY OCCASION

We are all busy bees! Sometimes, there is no time to go home and get changed. But you still have to look perfect at any time of the day. This skirt is great for these kind of situations. Last week I wore it during the day and then just kept it on for the Vuelio Blog Awards 2016, which was quite a glamorous event. And you know what? It was absolutely perfect for both occasions.

AFFORDABLE

I got my golden pleated skirt from romwe.com and paired it with the black dropped shoulder sweater. Both items are currently on sale (£20 for the skirt and £13 for the sweater) so it’s a great bargain. You can pretty much get the skirt from any high street retailer nowadays, but I particularly like this one. It has an underskirt, plus the fabric is not too stretchy and quite robust.
