Ladies, I have this fear that we are starting to lose our charm, our magic. You might think, who cares? But I actually believe that it’s causing a massive damage to our society. I also think that it’s partly the reason why relationships don’t last, why romance is becoming a thing of a past and why more and more guys are not ashamed to spit out openly into our faces that all they’re interested in is sex and that we are merely a tool for their own satisfaction.
How did we descend to this point? And more importantly, what can we do about it? Because let’s face it – nothing will make you stand out more from the crowd of plastic, snapchat-filtered, half naked dolls than cultivating and growing your own charm.
It’s your little secret to a healthy love life – your inner beauty that no one can take away from you and that will become the subject of everyone’s admiration and envy wherever you go.
Less Skin More Charm
As you can probably tell from my personal style, I’m not a big fan of showing too much skin. Not on my blog and not in my private life either. I’m a big believer that showing less skin brings more intrigue into your life. Makes people wonder what’s hiding beneath those layers of fabric, those tassels and hems.
Let me ask you a question. If someone gave you 2 presents, but only one of them was gift-wrapped, which present would you be more excited about? Admit it, the element of suspense and intrigue will make the “undercover” present seem so much more desirable! “What’s inside? – Could be anything! So mysterious…”
Be a Tease
And what happened if someone told you that you can’t open that gift straight away?
“I’m sorry, but you have to wait for a week or so… in fact, wait until I give you my permission to open it.”
What a tease! Nonetheless, you just can’t help but feel intrigued and excited – the temptation is part of the game!
It brings you back to the times when you were a child, sneaking around the house trying to find your Christmas present, because you were just dying of curiosity! Remember?
Well, why then do girls show everything they’ve got to offer on the first encounter? I know that you want to impress your date, but you are not doing yourself any favour. Can’t you see, there is nowhere you can go from here? It’s in our nature to strive for progress in everything we do and the next natural step from going to a date half-naked is going to bed with him… and I don’t mean for sleeping.
Charm in Clothes
What you wear is undoubtedly of great importance. Going back to the gift-wrapping example: we can’t deny that we’ll be automatically drawn to the gift with the new and shiny wrapping paper, decorated with golden ornaments on the edges, tied up with an exquisite red ribbon VS. an old, ripped brown paper bag from last year with messy tape sticking out from all sides…
When I saw the Laurél dress that I’m wearing in the shoot below for the first time, my immediate thought was – this dress has charm! It’s sexy, but not too revealing. Although the tassels are slightly hiding my shape, they slide aside which each movement revealing a delicate line of the sexy black dress underneath. A tease? Yes, absolutely!
Of course, a beautiful dress always needs a matching pair of staggering heels to complete the look. I decided to go with the strapped ASH sandals. What I love about these heels the most, is that they make my legs look super long and are incredibly comfortable thanks to the block heel.
Both items are from the SS17 collection and are not available in the stores just yet, but I’ve included the links to their websites so you know what brands they are. (I will also make sure to update the links as soon as the items will become available to buy online, so keep stopping by – third time tease! I just couldn’t help myself today…hihi)
Charm in You
Don’t take yourself too seriously. Learn to flirt. Laugh. Enjoy life. People who take themselves too seriously are such a bore! Don’t be one…
Work on your posture. It works wonders – trust me. I’ve seen it happening to me so many times. I always straighten my back whenever I catch myself slouching. And when I do, something magical happens. Not only do I feel taller, more confident and more attractive – I can actually see the changing reactions of the people around me. I can feel it in the air – their attitude towards me changes and somehow it makes me feel even grander.
Work on your voice. No one likes a squeaky high pitched tone… do a vocal warm-up before a date or an important meeting (I’m not joking…). I’ve recently discovered Amy Walker youtube videos. She gives amazing American Accent training (which I’m doing for my acting) but she also has this awesome fun warm-up video which you should totally try out. It always makes me feel super silly, but my voice sounds more grounded afterwards which is exactly what I want.
Work on your confidence. Feel free to read this article about how to boost your confidence, because we all naturally feel drawn to confident people.
Pay attention to your manners. Are you nice to look at when you walk, eat, sit, stand? Do your clothes look neat? Work on being more graceful. Take dancing classes if you think that this is an area you would like to improve. Thanks to my mum I’ve been dancing since I was a child and it really has helped me to be more aware of my body and to move more gracefully.
I would love to hear your opinion on this subject. Do you agree with me that there is less charm and magic in our society and we should work on getting it back or do you prefer the straightforward German way of dealing with life?
