Last week I went to the opening of the new Jaeger store on Marylebone High St. It’s a beautiful shop, situated only 9 minutes walk from Baker Street and Regent’s Park stations. Although I’m well aware of Jaeger as a brand I must admit that I’ve never owned any of their pieces. That’s why I was very intrigued and delighted when I received the official invitation to the store opening.
It was a gloomy and grey day outside. As I walked into the warmly lit space with the beautiful coats and jumpers hanging down the rails, I felt a ping of excitement. I’m going to treat myself to a gorgeous new autumn outfit in here.
MY JAEGER OUTFIT
After thoroughly exploring Jaeger’s autumn collection I finally settled on the super soft emerald green cashmere top, bordeaux kick flare trousers (which by the way looked just perfect with my Chie Mihara boots) and then topped it with the camel wool wrap coat, earrings, and the fold-over bag that was colour-matching my trousers.
I really liked the pieces that I’ve picked up. However, it was only when I started to try them on that I understood why there is a massive difference between high street and premium brands. It made such a big impact on me that I wanted to share my experience with you.
It also made me realise that once you get out of your teens (like me) and get a good sense of what your style is, you should start investing in quality over quantity. These are the 4 main reasons why you should do that:
1. THE FIT
The fit of premium brands is so different from high street. Jaeger’s clothes sit well and really complement my body shape. Everything is where it should be and looks absolutely stunning. Most premium brands still use real people to do the fittings and make sure that the garments are cut and fit nicely onto a body, whereas the majority of high street brands rarely do proper fittings and substitute them through a computer software.
2. THE FEEL
That’s actually a really big one for me! I just can’t stop touching my super soft green cashmere top and my wool coat, because they just feel incredible. The cashmere is so cosy and warm – it feels wonderful on my skin.
Wearing these pieces also makes me feel somehow more confident – I’m constantly getting compliments on my style when I’m out in London. It makes me really happy.
3. DURABILITY
As mentioned previously – you might want to experiment a lot with your style as a teenager. But there is a point in life when you get a pretty good idea what suits your body shape and your personality. It makes just so much more sense to buy one really good thing that you’ll be proud of, than to buy lots of products that will be falling apart within a few months. Buying a premium product is an investment that will pay off over time.
4. APPEARANCE
I think that the people around you can tell the difference straight away. There is no denial that premium brands simply look more expensive. They use better fabrics, the stitching is nice and neat, the products look beautiful from outside and inside – it’s a completely different league.
